Modularity maximizes versatility and functionality. Modular furniture is far superior to site specific furniture in terms of longevity – it simply has more applications. A single box can also be used as a side table. Single boxes stack like Lego, enabling the system to break down for a different sized wall or transport. A full system can fit into a medium sized car.
This system began as an exercise in material minimization – the outer frame gives the shelf strength on both axes and allowing an extremely thin interior 'cladding’.
